For EM (Effective Microorganisms) to truly thrive and be effective, it requires three essential components: a microbial habitat, water, and nourishment. While you can dilute EM1 with water and use it directly, this approach lacks the necessary environment and sustenance for the microorganisms. Think of it as sending soldiers into battle without armor or weapons. To truly harness the full potential of EM, it’s crucial to provide it with both sustenance and a conducive environment from the outset. One of the best ways to achieve this is by creating an activated EM solution. In this article, I’ll guide you through the process of preparing this potent solution.
The Power of Activated EM in Modern Agriculture
The true strength of using Activated EM lies in its ability to immediately bring microorganisms to a state where they can operate at full capacity and seamlessly adapt to their environment.
In recent times, there has been a surge in the development of biological products that hold the promise of revolutionizing regenerative agriculture across both farming and livestock sectors. For these products to be effective, it’s imperative that the contained microbes awaken from their dormant phase and multiply to levels that can induce the intended effect.
A challenge arises when we consider that many of the biological products currently available are processed using chemical mediums and undergo lyophilization (freeze-drying). This necessitates the cells to undergo several stages before they can be truly effective in their application.
This is where EM 1® distinguishes itself from its counterparts in the US market. It is crafted through natural methodologies, ensuring the microbes remain in their innate state. What sets EM 1® apart is its ability to bypass the aforementioned survival stages and its capacity to produce vital metabolites – substances that are not only beneficial but also essential for sustaining life.
At its core, EM 1® is a concentrated blend of dormant microbes in their natural form. The activation process is straightforward: mix molasses with EM 1® concentrate and water, and allow the mixture to ferment for a specified duration. This process reinvigorates the microbes, enabling them to proliferate as required.
Throughout this activation phase, the solution becomes enriched with a plethora of beneficial metabolites, ranging from amino acids and organic acids to vitamins, enzymes, and antioxidants. These compounds play a pivotal role in supporting various life forms and providing essential nutrients to both plants and animals.
Over the past four decades, the EM Research Organization (EMRO) based in Japan has been diligently refining and standardizing this activation process. Their commitment ensures that users consistently experience the peak performance of EM1® technology.
By harnessing the power of activation, EM 1® not only realizes its maximum potential but also guarantees its purity from contaminants. With its impeccable safety record and multiple certifications, including organic, EM 1® stands as a beacon in the realm of biological products.
Recipe of EM Activated Solution
The controlled activation process is crucial. It bypasses the survival processes of the microorganisms, creates a potent natural barrier against harmful microbes, and enriches the solution with essential amino acids for plant and animal growth.
For optimal results with EM 1®, adhere to the following activation process:
- 5% EM-1® concentrate
- 5% molasses
- 90% water
Using EM-1® outside these guidelines may result in subpar performance. TeraGanix, the EM1 production company, or its partners such as Solutions for Organic Life, LLC, are not liable for any deviations. For detailed activation instructions, see below.
Activation Guide:
- In a clean container, mix 5% EM•1®, 5% pure molasses, and 90% clean water.
- Allow the mixture to ferment for 7 days.
- On the 7th day, ensure the solution’s pH is between 3.2-3.6. It should have a bittersweet aroma and an orange-brown hue. For application, dilute at a 1:100 ratio.
Additional Notes:
- Use activated EM•1® within 45 days for best results.
- Apply using a spray or irrigation system.
- Optimal activation temperature is 62°F or higher.
- Store in a cool, protected area.
- EM•1®-Activated is biodegradable and compatible with various products but not with chlorine, copper products, bactericides, and fungicides.
- Dosage rates: Various applications have different dosage rates, such as composting, soil treatments, and hydroponics.
